Are you up to the challenge?

Japanese Culture Test
- Beginner (Very easy) If you get at least half, you are a normal person, but you still have a long way to go. You would be considered
a baby who just started walking, if seen from people who can score 80% on the advanced tests below. I'd think high score
on this level suggests that you can tell the difference between Japan and China. Not bad.
- Intermediate (Hard) If you lived in Japan for more than six months, you will probably get half right. You need to have had lots of
Japanese friends to have known these facts.
- Things related to EATING I put together ten questions related to the eating habit of Japanese people. You could guess the answers because
of the weakness of multiple choice setting, but I'd think to know all these you need to have lived in Japan.
- Things related to COLORs. Ten questions about how Japanese people see colors. Of course, Japanese people see a lot of things in the same
way, but there are some differences.
- Things related to Education I feel Japanese education system is best in elementary school, but beyond that the quality of learning decreases.
In college education ceases to exist.
- Japanese merchandise, brandnames, etc. If you are American, for example, you know what "Tide" means (detergent) or "Advil" means (painkiller).
This is a collection of product or service names that are very obvious to Japanese people.
- English words invented in Japan We are creative people. We use a lot of English words in a way that English speaking people may
not notice.
- onomatopoeia (The words that show emotions, state of mind, state of things by expressing them by sound.)
I made all these test programs using a free and easy-to-use software HOT POTATO software (r). It
is from the website http://web.uvic.ca/hrd/halfbaked/
